In the first part, speaker David Merkle identified the three main pillars of German foreign policy as "democracy, the rule of law and human rights", gave an overview of the German-Chinese relationship, and pointed out the challenges in its relationship with China.

In the next section, speaker Celine Caro shares about China's soft power in five Southeast Asian countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The study analyzes China's soft power in aspects such as culture, education, economy, foreign policy, etc. and shows the limitations of this country's diplomatic strategy with the enhancement of soft power.
